Following last week's departure from the FA Cup (1-5 v Abbey Hey) it was back to league action with a trip to Barnoldswick Town. Unfortunately, it took the lads 75 minutes to really get started and by that time our hosts were already 3-0 up and it could have been much worse. At the other end we had some good chances and a first half effort chalked off when the assistant's flag was raised. Following three substitutions and more pressure up front Mero Waugh and Alex Dunne hit two goals in two minutes to reduce the deficit. We were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty in the finl few minutes and a great challenge on Ste Edwards saved a goalscoring chance. Barlick broke clear in stoppage time to make it 4-2 Next up Bootle on Tuesday evening (21st August). Another tough game against a team with a 100% winning record over their five opening games (league and cup) Photos from yesterday are available at: www.facebook.com/sthelenstownafcJohnM
